Making Sense Of Dental Implants In New Albany, IN

You are missing teeth, but that is not all you are missing. You are likely missing out on optimal health, enjoyable meals, opportunities to smile, and so forth. Nothing is going to change until you decide to do something about it.

Don’t worry, if you live in the Southern Indiana area, there is someone who can save your smile, and perhaps even your life: Dr. Ronald Receveur. As the leading dental implants doctor in New Albany, Dr. Ron has the tools and the training to get you back on track fast.

So that you will better understand the process, we will be covering dental implants in today’s post. Keep reading and then be sure to get in touch with our team to schedule your restorative dentistry consultation at New Albany Implants!

What Do Dental Implants Involve?

Dental implants are modern replacements for natural tooth roots. They are made of titanium and they resemble a small screw. Implants are hollow, and the center of them is threaded as well. This allows us to attach any number of different caps, abutments, and appliances.

Titanium bonds real well to your bone. That’s why we use it. This process is called osseointegration (don’t worry–there won’t be a quiz). It’s often an even stronger bond than the bond between your bone and natural teeth.

If maintained properly (we’ll tell you how) a dental implant will last forever. They also help you look younger and live longer, according to recent studies.

The Dental Implant Procedure Explained

Here’s how it happens: dental implants are screwed into your jaw through a minor surgical procedure that happens right here in our office. We don’t believe in outsourcing! Once in place, they are allowed to heal and fuse with the bone over the course of several months.

This so-called “integration period” normally takes about 8 weeks, depending. Following the healing months you will come back to have your new crown, denture or permanent teeth affixed to the implant. In the early years of implants they used to be left to heal with a simple abutment cap in place, but that’s not the case anymore. At least not at our office.

You will never have to leave New Albany Implants without functional teeth. You might have temporary teeth for a short time, but never will you have to hide your smile or worry about what you eat.

Our implants provide a long-lasting, good-looking solution to your dental troubles. But you need to come in to make it happen!
