How Long Will You Wait To Get Dental Implants?

September 13, 2017

Let’s say your car was acting up. You take it to a mechanic to find out what’s wrong.

Let’s say he tells you the problem is that you need to replace some parts. You can make an appointment to replace one of them next week, but he will need to order the other part. It could be months before that second part arrives. In the meantime, you’ll have to drive your car without it.

You decide to check with another mechanic before making a decision about what to do. This second mechanic tells you that he can fix and replace everything you need in one day. He already has all the parts. All you have to do is schedule an appointment to get it done.

Would you take your car to the mechanic who can fix your problem over a couple of months with multiple visits to his shop or to the mechanic that can fix your problem in one day?

Perhaps more important, what does this have to do with restorative dentistry?

Many patients with missing teeth face a similar situation. They could go to a dentist who rarely does dental implant placements. As a result, they may need to make one visit to get their implants. They will need months to recover from the procedure. Then they have to return later to get their dentures.

Or, they could make an appointment at New Albany Implants.

With the One Day Smile Solution™, you could get your implants and dentures in one visit to our office in New Albany, IN. Our dentist, Dr. Ron Receveur, developed this solution, which has helped patients from all across the United States.

To find out what we could do for you or someone you love in one day, call 888-469-3982 or contact us online to schedule a consultation.

Do You Need Dental Implants?

Our car metaphor is helpful here, too. You probably wouldn’t do this, but let’s imagine that you drove your car until the tires actually did fall off. Would you replace the tires without putting on lug nuts? If you did, how long do you think you could drive on tires that are not secured to your car?

If you lose your teeth, you could get dentures, but dentures only replace the crowns of your teeth. And since they rest outside your gums, they can slide off at any time — like tires without lug nuts to hold them in place.

At first, you might think things are OK. You might feel like your smile looks nice. You might be able to eat a few things that you couldn’t eat before you got your dentures. You still can’t eat everything you want, but they are better than having no teeth at all, right?

With time, your dentures will get looser and more likely to slip out of position when you try to eat or speak. Given enough time or if you bite into the wrong thing, your dentures could come out completely.

To keep your dentures secure, you need to replace the roots of your missing teeth, too. That’s what dental implants do.

When you have implants, your dentures will stay in place, and they will function like natural teeth. You will be able to eat all the foods you love again without worrying that your dentures might come loose or come out.

I’m the type of person that is scared of the dentist have been my whole life. I scheduled consultation with Dr Ron and he answered all my questions and more. He and his staff are great they made me feel comfortable the whole time. They used sedation for my implant procedure and it was the best decision I have ever made!! I had zero pain whatsoever. The best thing is that they have gave me the ability to smile again and to be happy. Thank you to everyone at New Albany Implants. I recommend them to anyone needing dental implants.

Amazing experience. If anyone is anxious about seeing a dentist I can assure you don’t have to be with Dr. Receveur. My only regret is not having it done sooner. His staff is pretty awesome too.

I recently had implants put in by Dr. Receveur. I was scheduled to have sedation that morning, but wasn't able to due to my sugar issues from diabetes. He assured me he would keep me comfortable so I agreed to go ahead with the procedure. He did just that, he kept me comfortable as promised and I didn't feel a thing. During the procedure he also talked to me the whole time explaining what he was doing, which also helped ease my anxiety. The entire staff there are so nice and informative, they can answer any questions you may have. All I can say is to anyone that is hesitant to have this procedure done, I honestly wish I would have had this done a long time ago! Dr. Receveur and his staff are AMAZING, and I would recommend them to anyone in a heartbeat!
