Considering Implants? Good Idea!

Hello and welcome to the New Albany Implants blog!

Are you struggling through the aftermath of tooth loss as an adult?

Have you considered dental implants before but aren’t quite sure what to expect from your procedure?

Then you might get some useful information out of this post! Keep reading and then be sure to follow up with our team to schedule your free consultation! What have you got to lose?

You can rest assured that if you decide on implants, you’ll be in more than capable hands with us and you will also get a sympathetic ear, so to speak. It just so happens that our leader, Dr. Ronald Receveur, sought to become an expert in dental implant procedures after living with the misery of a bad artificial replacement tooth early in life.

What Does A Dental Implant Entail?

Here’s the deal: dental implants are made of titanium and mimic the size of a natural tooth root.

They resemble a small, short, screw. Implants are hollow, and the center of them is threaded as well. This allows us to attach any number of different caps, abutments, and appliances. That is important stuff.

Titanium is the metal of choice for making dental implants because of how well it bonds to bone. The process by which titanium bonds to bone is called osseointegration. In many cases it’s an even stronger bond than the bond between your bone and natural teeth.

The best part is that, if maintained properly a dental implant will last a lifetime. By the way, they also help you look younger and live longer!

The Procedure Itself

It really is easy to get your smile (and your life) back with dental implants. Basically, implants are screwed into your jaw through a minor surgical procedure that happens right here in our comfortable office. Once inserted, they are allowed to heal and fuse with the bone over the course of several months.

The “integration period” normally takes about 8 weeks, give or take. Following the healing months you will come back to have your new crown, denture or permanent teeth affixed to the implant. In the early years of implants they used to be left to heal with a simple abutment cap in place, but that’s not the case anymore. At least not at our office.

We want you to understand that you will never have to leave our office without functional teeth. You might have temporary teeth for a short time, but never will you have to hide your smile or worry about what you eat.

Our implants provide a long-lasting, good-looking solution to your smile woes. But you have to want to change your life for the better enough to take the next step.

We Have The Tools And The Training To Make It Happen!

You can be sure that, over the years, we have invested an enormous amount of time, money and effort to develop our capabilities for restoring smiles regardless of how serious the dental issue is that our patients are facing.

That’s why our practice is the only dental practice in New Albany and Southern Indiana that is dedicated wholeheartedly to Complex Rehabilitative Dentistry, Dental Implants, Cosmetic Dentistry and IV Sedation.
