With Dental Implants, Your Dentures Feel More Natural

May 11, 2018

Those are likely two words you never thought you would hear in the same sentence: dentures and natural. But with dental implants, it’s more likely than ever before. For a lot of denture patients, dentures that feel, work, and look like natural teeth seems more like a figment of their imagination.

At New Albany Implants, we can make it a reality. We encourage you to keep reading to learn how implants can support your permanent replacement teeth. You may be surprised to learn how much of a difference dental implants can make for your denture experience.

What Are Implant-Supported Dentures?

Your best option for replacing missing teeth are implant-supported dentures, which we prefer to call implant-supported permanent teeth.

With implant-supported teeth, dental implants are placed in the same manner as they are for individual tooth replacements. There are two main types of implant-supported teeth:

  • Bar-retained

With bar-retained permanent teeth, a thin metal bar is attached to a set of dental implants that have been surgically placed into your jawbone. The bar follows the natural curve of your jaw and special attachments are used to hold the denture in place after it’s fit over the bar.

  • Ball-retained

With ball-retained teeth, a metal abutment connects each implant to your new permanent teeth.

When you come to our New Albany, IN dental office for dental implant services, you’ll learn more about how the treatment is done and what you can expect. But for your convenience, we’ve laid out a brief rundown of the process below.

Implant-Supported Teeth: What To Expect

When you visit our office for the procedure, we’ll use IV sedation to make sure you’re comfortable throughout the process. Once you’re completely comfortable, we’ll extract any failing teeth, if necessary, then start placing the dental implants. The titanium screws are strategically placed in your jawbone to support your new teeth.

And thanks to our One Day Smile Solution™, you can leave with new teeth on the same day you get your implants.

You no longer have to worry about messy adhesives or dentures that slip out of place. You’ll be able to eat, talk, and live with complete confidence because your replacement teeth truly feel like a natural part of you! Just be sure to maintain regular checkups with us to keep your mouth healthy.
