Things to Look for in a Great Dentist’s Office

April 15, 2015

No one wants to go to a second-rate dentist. Trust us. There is nothing worse for your teeth than trusting them to someone who isn’t at the top of the game. But how do you know if a dentist is at the top of the game or somewhere down in mediocrity?

It can be difficult to tell. There are things you can do ahead of time to prepare for your appointment, like looking over the doctor’s website, watching videos of the doctor, and getting referrals from family and friends. Ultimately, though, you will have to walk into an office and decide if you ever want to go back.

We know it can be an overwhelming and difficult decision, especially if you have had a bad experience in the past. In order to help you make that decision, we have created a list of things for you to look for as you tour an office or go to your first consultation or appointment. Let’s take a look!

A Great Support System

You want your dental office to be a support system for itself and for you. How can you tell from one appointment? We have two things to look for:

Doctor Who Listens – When you are meeting with a new dentist, that dentist should be listening to you! Not playing on a notepad or typing on a laptop. You want the full attention of this new doctor because a doctor who takes the time to really listen is a doctor who is on your side!

Staff That is Helpful – From the moment you walk in the door until the moment you leave, you should feel comfortable asking for help, voicing concerns, and seeking answers to questions. A great dental staff supports the doctor and you when they take the time to make sure you have all the information you need!

An Investment in Your Care

You should also keep your eyes peeled for signs of investment in your care and comfort. A dentist who is worth seeing is a dentist who is investing in the practice with helpful technology and comfort for you!

Technology that Works – You should see the use of great technology in a dental office. We aren’t talking about a doctor who buys new toys just for the fun of it, but a doctor who invests in a new tool and then uses it for your advantage!

Comfort Measures Available – Don’t waste your time with a dentist who won’t invest in your comfort. A clean, comfortable office is one of the best things to help you relax before an appointment. The availability of sedation is another sign that this dentist wants you to feel comfortable during your procedure!

A Mouth That Can’t Stop Smiling

This might seem obvious, but you would be surprised at how many patients we have seen who came from terrible dental offices that misdiagnosed problems, did poor treatments, or made the patient feel terrible! Don’t settle until you can’t stop smiling!

You See Improvement – You are looking for continuous improvement in your mouth. You want to see clean, healthy teeth that you are happy to show off! A dental office should never give you appliances or treatment that makes you want to hide your smile!

You Feel Confident – At the end of an appointment, you should feel confident and happy with the job done. You will know that your concerns were addressed and your smile is in good shape until the next appointment! That feeling is sure to put a smile on your face!

Put Our Office to the Test!

We are ready for you to put our office to the test! We are here to show you what true comfort and confidence is all about. Contact us today to set up a consultation or appointment. In the meantime, check out the rest of our website because it is FULL of patient and doctor videos so that you can get to know us before you ever walk through our doors!
