Smiles Aren’t Just For Smiling

May 30, 2015

A smile is so much more than just a set of teeth. It is a form of communication, and a tool for healthy living. Missing teeth can make your life more difficult in so many ways. Thankfully, there is no reason you have to put up with them.

At New Albany Implants we recognize the value of a strong, healthy, and confident smile. At our office in Southern Indiana, we make it our mission to see that everyone who comes into our office leaves smiling.

Confidence

A healthy smile is a confident smile, and they do a lot more than brighten up family photos. A strong set of teeth affect almost every aspect of your life, from work, to home, to get togethers and parties, you’ll need a smile to let everyone know you are happy and excited to here!

A Professional Smile

A smile at work shows that you are enthusiastic and engaged in your duties. If you don’t smile at work, you could be misunderstood as someone who is unhappy in your job and unwilling to be a team player.

Smiling shows that you are confident in your position, whether you are a new hire still learning the business, or a team leader. Your co-workers and employers want to see that you are comfortable and in control. Smiling is the best way to do that.

A Friendly Smile

Smiling is also very important for your social life. When meeting new people, it is important for them to know you are friendly and welcoming. That’s where a warm smile comes in. If you are embarrassed of your missing teeth and hide your smile as a result, then you could come across as disengaged and uninviting, or even unfriendly.

A smile is how we communicate that we are happy to meet new people and ready to have fun. Whether you are at a party or a blind date, you need a bright and friendly smile to let everyone know you are at ease and confident.

Speech

Your teeth have a tremendous impact on the way you talk. The “L” and “T” sounds, for instance, are made by placing your tongue against the back of your front teeth. If you are missing teeth, especially your front, your speech could be difficult to understand. Communication is obviously a very important part of your life. It is connected to everything you do. So if you have trouble communicating because of missing teeth, you could be making your life more difficult, and should consider a tooth replacement solution.

Looks

Let’s face it, looks are important. The way you look affects the way you feel. If you are unhappy with how you look, then you are less likely to go out and do the things you want to do.

Missing front teeth is very noticeable, which can make you sell-conscious, but missing back teeth can affect the way you look, too. Your molars help fill out your cheeks, so if they are gone, your face will appear sunken in. This ages you prematurely.

Nutrition

Let’s not forget that you need teeth to chew. If chewing becomes difficult due to missing or unhealthy teeth, then you will be less likely to eat healthy food with lots of fiber, or you may avoid eating as much as possible. This not only takes away the joy of eating whatever food you like, it also leads to various nutrition related illnesses.

The fact is: you need a healthy, balanced diet to feel and look good, and to eat a healthy, balanced diet, you need some strong teeth.

The Problem With Dentures

Dentures are always an option for tooth replacement, and they are certainly better than putting up with missing teeth, but there are issues with dentures you need to consider.

Dentures have a habit of falling out at the worst times, like when you are laughing our eating.

They can slide around inside your mouth, which not only looks and feels awkward, but can cause sores to form in your mouth.

You depend on messy adhesives to secure your denture. These can be foul tasting and ineffective.

Dentures require special cleaning habits, and must be soaked when you are not using them, or they will lose their shape.

You will have to be careful what you eat with dentures because they are not secure enough to handle all foods.

Feel Secure With Dental Implants

Dental implants are a more secure and permanent solution to missing teeth. Implants are small metal posts that are placed inside your jaw to bond with the bone. Theses posts will act as the roots for your replaces teeth. Implants can be used to replace individual teeth or to anchor a set of dentures.

With implants you don’t have worry about your dentures sliding around or falling out because they are securely attached directly to your jaw, just like your natural teeth. Now you can eat what you want.

Plus, implants are easy to take care of. Just brush and floss like they are natural teeth!

I’m the type of person that is scared of the dentist have been my whole life. I scheduled consultation with Dr Ron and he answered all my questions and more. He and his staff are great they made me feel comfortable the whole time. They used sedation for my implant procedure and it was the best decision I have ever made!! I had zero pain whatsoever. The best thing is that they have gave me the ability to smile again and to be happy. Thank you to everyone at New Albany Implants. I recommend them to anyone needing dental implants.

Amazing experience. If anyone is anxious about seeing a dentist I can assure you don’t have to be with Dr. Receveur. My only regret is not having it done sooner. His staff is pretty awesome too.

I recently had implants put in by Dr. Receveur. I was scheduled to have sedation that morning, but wasn't able to due to my sugar issues from diabetes. He assured me he would keep me comfortable so I agreed to go ahead with the procedure. He did just that, he kept me comfortable as promised and I didn't feel a thing. During the procedure he also talked to me the whole time explaining what he was doing, which also helped ease my anxiety. The entire staff there are so nice and informative, they can answer any questions you may have. All I can say is to anyone that is hesitant to have this procedure done, I honestly wish I would have had this done a long time ago! Dr. Receveur and his staff are AMAZING, and I would recommend them to anyone in a heartbeat!
