Protect Your Smile By Retraining Your Brain

Welcome to another June edition of our oral health blog!

So, where have you been hiding?

You can be upfront with us. At New Albany Implants we don’t take dental anxiety personally, but we do take it very seriously. That’s because we know all too well that holding onto a fear of the dentist can derail your oral health and cause some real damage in your life.

You will tend to put off treatment or avoid it all together. As such, rather than getting simple fillings for cavities, you might be faced with root canals and extractions followed by the need for implants. Plus, you could be walking around town with bad breath, or worse yet, cancer, and not even know it.

The good news is that our practice is in-tune with your concerns and we can actually help you to relax such fears, thereby allowing you to get all of the excellent dental care you deserve.

In fact, we have taken it much further than any other New Albany dentists by designing the comprehensive Retrain Your Brain system. That is mainly because our leader, Dr. Ronald Receveur, has been, as he puts it, on the receiving end of more dental work than most people could have over several lifetimes. He really gets where you are coming from and sincerely tries to make dentistry accessible to everyone in this great community. That’s why we hope you will give us a chance to take you on as a patient and friend.

Anyway, keep reading to hear all about it, and then get in-touch with our team to arrange for your next visit to New Albany Implants.

The Place

Sure, we have a state of the art facility here, but the environment at our New Albany office is anything but cold and hospital-like.

On the contrary, we go to great lengths to make it a welcoming, pain-free place. Our goal is for you to get comfortable enough to let go of any fears based on prior less-than-pleasant experiences.

So, making it feel like home around here is part of retraining your brain. But the process doesn’t stop there. It really seeps into everything we do.

The Tools And The Team

To do any good moving forward, it will be important to recognize the triggers. Was there an unkind dentist in your past, or a drill that inflicted unexpected pain?

Regardless of where your fears come from, we will try to help you see that around here, we invest heavily in the modern tools and technology (not to mention training for staff) that make it easy to keep your mouth clean and your smile looking great. Beyond that, we’re nice people who truly want what is best for you in our heart of hearts.

This is really where retraining your brain comes in. Just getting used to the fact that some dentists are compassionate and will be here to optimize your oral health throughout your life. It’s OK if you aren’t converted on the spot. But we hope that eventually you will come around, so to speak.

The Sedation Option

Trust us, some folks still want some sort of sedation until they have been here a few times. Others can never completely get over whatever it is that haunts them about dentistry. Don’t worry, we won’t judge you. Instead we will offer you one of four different levels of dental sedation and go from there. One way or another, we will get you back on the good road.
