Facing Your Dental Fears

People usually dread going to the dentist because of fears or anxieties. Fortunately, you can visit us to find remedies for this problem. Our own Dr. Ron Receveur may provide sedation dentistry treatments to ease your dental fears.

Sedation dentistry makes hours-long procedures, such as dental reconstructive and cosmetic surgeries feel like it happened for only a few minutes. Most people even say they felt nothing at all and what they experienced seemed just like a dream.

Most people usually confuse sedation dentistry with sleep dentistry. These two procedures are different, however. Sedation dentistry doesn’t intend for patients to fall asleep during procedures, but because they’re in a state of sedation, some fall asleep. Sleep dentistry, on the other hand, involves general anesthesia, which is a medically induced coma caused by administering general anesthetic agents.

Sedation dentistry is a process that creates a relaxed, easy, and calm state in patients through sedatives. We administer sedative drugs or tranquilizers to dental patients before starting the actual procedure. You can choose to receive these sedatives through an IV drip.

As soon as you’re completely relaxed, we will begin the actual procedure. If you choose IV sedation, on the other hand, we will use an IV line that goes through your arm or hand to administer the sedatives.

Sedation dentistry is one of our most popular services because it provides our patients with many benefits. These include relaxation, increased comfort, and little or no memory of the treatment.
