Can Implants Benefit Partial Denture Wearers?

September 19, 2015

Do you wear partial dentures and want to be rid of them? You might have been wanting to be rid of your partial dentures for years and haven’t been able to find a solution – but what about dental implants? You might have heard about dental implants and wondered if they were for you – aren’t they just for single teeth and full-mouth replacements? What about people in between?

At New Albany Implants we’ve placed full, partial, and single dental implants for countless patients. We’ve seen the smiles on people’s faces light up when they realize they can finally eat the foods they love, smile without fear of losing their teeth, and taste their meals better because of how easy it is to eat! We’re confident we can deliver great results to you no matter how many teeth you need replaced!

What’s Wrong With Your Partial Dentures?

If you’re like most people who’ve worn partial dentures you probably felt immediate results when you started wearing your dentures. Studies have found that most patients Are thrilled with their new look, the fit, and the comfort of partial dentures when they first get them. Studies even show that many patients are surprised at how great they are when they first try them on!

If you’re like most patients you probably had a brief love affair with your dentures. You could chew better, smile without shame or embarrassment, and were able to socialize without the crippling self-consciousness you felt before. But over time studies show that partial dentures aren’t as great as they used to be!

Patients surveyed within one to five years after getting new partial dentures all had some pretty common complaints:

  • their partial dentures didn’t fit as well anymore! This is due to the constant bone loss and gum tightening that you experience with lost teeth. Your bone structure continues to change and leave your dentures ill-fitting and uncomfortable!
  • they were experiencing a lot of gum irritation and sensitivity! When you’re chewing food your teeth displace a surprisingly high amount of pressure. They’re designed to share that force with your gums and jaw but dentures can’t do that! The pressure goes right into your gums and jaw with no displacement – uncomfortable!
  • the clasps that go around your teeth keep breaking! Many patients experience broken clasps on their partial dentures. This can be do to wear and tear or the changing bone structure of your mouth. If your dentures don’t fit as well as they used to the clasps could be under a lot more stress than with a well-fitting set!

These problems were fairly common for partial denture wearers, but you’re in luck if you want to eliminate them in exchange for dental implants! We can create partial bridges using one or more implants that will look incredibly lifelike!

Dental Implants For Multiple Teeth

Implants have a lot of advantages over partial dentures. They’re made of titanium, which is incredibly good at bonding to bone. When we place your dental implants directly in your jaw they’ll form an incredibly strong and permanent bond. Once your crowns or bridges are in place you’ll probably forget you even have dental implants!

We restore all of our dental implants with zirconium bridges! Zirconium is an incredibly strong form of dental ceramic. It’s incredibly strong, lasts a long time, and can be made out of a variety of shades that will perfectly match your natural teeth. Many of our patients remark on how realistic zirconium crowns look, and it’s true! The perfectly match that translucent appearance that your teeth have!

It doesn’t matter how many teeth you need replaced – our dental implants can take care of one, several, or a whole mouthful! We’re thrilled to be able to offer you a tooth replacement solution that doesn’t just look good: it’s also just like the real thing! You’ll be able to chew your favorite foods, smile with confidence, and live with ease in a way you never could with partial dentures!

Take The Leap!

Don’t spend years in an unhappy relationship with you partial dentures. Say goodbye and embrace the happiness and fulfilling life that you can have with dental implants! We’re ready to help you as soon as you call our New Albany dentist office at 888-469-3982!
