The Sedation Difference: Breaking the Cycle of Fear

We like to tease “scaredy-cats” around our office, but the truth is that we completely understand where that fear comes from! Dr. Ron has experienced more terrifying dentistry than anyone we know of, which is one reason why he is so driven to provide compassionate care to our patients. Sedation dentistry can change the way you think about going to the dentist, and it will allow you to get the care that you need!

When we are afraid, our body releases stress hormones that cause our body to tense. When we are in this state of fear, pain becomes much more intense, even if it is just perceived pain. So you are afraid, you become tense, pain elevates, which makes you more afraid, more tense, etc. Do you see the cycle? We call it the cycle of fear, and our goal is to help patients reverse that cycle using sedation dentistry.

How Would That Work?

Sedation dentistry is simply using sedation to help relax the body so that the perception of pain is lessened. While we work, you really won’t feel anything, and your body will be relaxed, so it won’t be anticipating anything. This makes for a much calmer, more beneficial dental experience. When you are finished, you will realize that there was no pain, and the next time you come in for a procedure, you won’t be as afraid.

It’s ok if you feel fear. It’s not ok if you allow that fear to keep you from getting dental care that you need or want! Sedation dentistry could be the answer for you! We specialize in oral, IV, and sleep sedation methods, so we are sure to have a method that works for you. Contact us today to learn more about how we can help you overcome your fear of the dentist!
