A Bridge To A New Smile
There is no reason you have to live with dental work that compromises your smile. There are solutions available that can restore your smile with natural-looking devices that even your closest family members would have a hard time detecting.
At New Albany Implants, we often see patients who have a traditional dental bridge. The function of a bridge is to fill the gap created by missing teeth. A bridge will have one or more crowns that is supported by an abutment. But traditional bridges use metal that sometimes leaves a gray or black line along the patient’s gums. This black line can be distracting to the patient and make them self-conscious about their smile.
Another Way To Cross The Bridge
At New Albany Implants, we use zirconium bridges that are ceramic and do not leave that distracting black line around your gums. The zirconium bridges are stronger, more stable and aesthetically pleasing. Before we place a zirconium bridge, we take X-rays and then an impression of your teeth to ensure the best possible fit. One of the benefits to this type of bridge is that tooth reduction is minimal.
While our patients are happy with the look of the zirconium bridge, it does have some disadvantages. The option is more expensive than any traditional metal bridge and the crowns can sometimes wear out and become less effective.
