The Truth About Dental Implants

October 26, 2015

When it comes to replacing lost teeth there’s no better choice than dental implants. These amazing and tiny titanium rods can give you a permanent smile that you don’t have to take out every night! Even if you’re just missing a single tooth you can get your smile back with a dental implant!

At New Albany Implants we’ve made placing all kinds of implants our specialty. From single tooth to full mouth solutions we can make your smile great again! If you’ve considered dental implants you probably have a lot of questions, which is what we’re here to answer today.

Do Implants Look Real?

A common concern patients have when receiving an implant or any other kind of dental restoration is how real it will look. Our dental implants are topped with zirconia crowns that perfectly mimic the look, feel, and performance of natural teeth!

Our full mouth solutions look just as real too! Using state-of-the-art Cagenix 360 material we craft full mouth bridges that are indistinguishable from the real thing! The titanium that is used as the core of your implant is well hidden beneath your gums and crown/bridge so you won’t have to worry about it being seen at all!

Are Implants Worth The Cost?

Let’s not beat around the bush: dental implants can be really expensive! If you’ve found yourself wondering if you should consider implants you’ve surely heard horror stories about dental bills. But think about what you’re actually getting. It isn’t just an implant or a new set of teeth: you’re investing in your future happiness!

Dental implants are designed to last for life and with good care they can! Imagine never having to wear dentures again. Imagine eating the foods you love without worrying if you can. Imagine smiling with the confidence and beauty that you had when you were younger – all that and more is possible with dental implants!

So when you think about the cost think about all the happiness that comes with them – that’s part of the price tag too.

Are Implants Uncomfortable?

A lot of people think an implant is going to be strange and foreign feeling but that simply isn’t true. Dental implants feel just like natural teeth – some patients even remark at how they feel stronger! Once healing is complete (just two to three months) you won’t even notice your implant is there!

Implants also confuse people because of the discomfort of dentures. Implants never press on your gums or cause irritation because they’re anchored to your bone just like a natural tooth! Force is disbursed just like it is with a real tooth as well.

Are Dental Implants Hard To Maintain?

They’re expensive and foreign so does that mean hard to keep clean too? Not at all! Dental implants are as easy to take care of as your natural teeth. Brushing twice a day and flossing in the evenings is all you need to do to keep your teeth healthy.

Part of caring for your dental implants, just like with natural teeth, is also regular dental exams and cleanings. You can’t ignore your oral health just because your teeth aren’t real! Peri-implant disease is a very real problem for dental implant wearers. It’s similar to gum disease and can lead to complete implant loss over time!

Is Healing Difficult?

Most dental implant patients are amazed at how easy the healing process is, especially with our One Day Smile Solution for full-mouth implant patients! Even if you’re just getting one dental implant you’ll still leave with a temporary crown on it – you won’t have to go without a tooth!

Healing from dental implants usually only takes two to three months and that’s just for bone integration. The actual “healing” portion of your post-operative care is only until your gums are good and healed! You’ll need to eat soft foods and be gentle on your smile for a while but that’s it! Pain during recovery and complications are both extremely rare!

This experience has by far been one of the best investments I've ever made! My only complaint is that I didn't go to New Albany Implants sooner instead of wasting so much time and money trying to hold onto my natural teeth. These guys are the BEST!!!
