Recovering from Dental Implant Surgery

July 29, 2014

Maybe you’ve heard horror stories of oral surgery or seem it in the media. Patients with chipmunk cheeks and nightmarish pain seem to be in every movie including a dentist. Thank goodness real dentistry isn’t like that! We get people who are very concerned about having dental implants placed because they are worried about the recovery. Before you ask for a week of vacation time to use for your recovery, please consider the truth of dental implant procedure.

Dental implants are not the same as something like wisdom teeth removal. Some of the oral surgery extractions seem to be very painful, indeed. Dental implants are different because while it is technically oral surgery, you aren’t being opened up or having anything removed. We are simply placing small posts into your jawbone. There will be some pain, but it will be completely manageable.

At Home Care

Immediately following your procedure, we will discuss all of the post-op care that you will need to worry about at home. You will feel groggy from the anesthesia, but we will make sure you have access to something for the pain. Once you go home and rest, you will begin to feel much better! Some of our patients are even able to return to work the following day! Dental Implant surgery is not the type of surgery to put you on bed rest for the next two weeks, and for that, we are very grateful!

If you are curious about exactly what dental implant surgery will feel like, come see us! Contact us today to set up an appointment with Dr. Ron, and he can walk you through the entire process! Whatever pain you experience will be short-lived, so don’t let that be something to stop you from getting the dental care you want and need. We hope to see you soon!

Staff very pleasant. Made sure I was as comfortable as possible. Answered any questions I had. Encouraged to call back with any questions. When I did call, they happily provided me with answers. Up front with cost of procedures prior to scheduling.

Dr Fredrick and staff make you feel like family. And the work they do is the best , I would totally recommend calling them for dental needs.
