Dental implants are the best solution for missing teeth, and there are many reasons we believe that statement. Implants look like natural teeth. They feel like natural teeth. They function like natural teeth. How can a restoration seem so natural? The secret lies in the power of osseointegration. Without it, a dental implant would be just another temporary fix with no real solution.
Osseointegration is a big word to explain a simple process. Implants are made of titanium, which the body readily accepts. We place the implant directly into the jaw bone, and the body accepts this as a form of tooth root. With time, usually a few months, the bone will actually attach to the implant giving it a secure placement in your mouth. Our implants have a 98+% success rate, which means when you sit in our chair, you can trust that the job will be done right!
What Do I Do for Three Months?
You might be wondering about that 8-12 week period when your bone is attaching to the implant. Will you be toothless? Absolutely not! We will place temporary teeth during your implant surgery so that you walk out of our office with your new smile. After osseointegration has taken place, we will remove the temporary teeth and place permanent teeth in a painless procedure. At that point, we can discuss any changes in size, color, etc that you might like to see for your prosthetic teeth.
The key to a successful implant procedure is the osseointegration. This is what makes dental implants superior to all other restorations. When we get your body involved in securing the restoration, you know you’re in great shape! If you have any questions or concerns, contact us! We would love to answer your questions or set up an appointment for you to meet with Dr. Ron to discuss your options. You’ll be glad you did!
