Oral Hygiene Habits For Summer Vacation!

Hello and welcome back to the New Albany Implants blog!

Now that Summer is officially here, and the living is easy on both sides of the Ohio River, we want to make sure that your hygiene habits remain top of mind. Remember, oral health never takes a vacation!

While you are enjoying concerts, meats off the grill, and seasonal brews from NABC, your teeth and gums are still in need of some TLC.

That’s why we’ve assembled some summer smile suggestions for today’s blog post.

Be sure to get in-touch with us when you are finished reading so that you can schedule your next preventive appointment in our Southern Indiana dentist’s office!

Water Is The Key

Hydration helps. When you are out in the summer sun nothing is better for your body than a healthy helping of H2O. Besides, drinking water can also help keep your breath from offending those around you. You see, water is what allows you to produce enough saliva to fight off the bad-breath-causing bacteria. Drink up! If you can find fluoride-fortified water, that is even better!

Brush Like Always

To keep your mouth clean you will need to brush at least twice a day every day of summer. This practice is your frontline defense against gum disease, tooth decay, and so forth. But remember, brushing is only the beginning!

Find The Floss

You really ought to be flossing every day in order to get food, tartar, plaque, etc. out of the spaces in-between your teeth. It isn’t so hard to do. Keep in mind, this will save you from having to endure root canals, extractions, or worse later in life.

Rinse With Fluoride

Fluoride mouthwashes can bring added oral health benefits and they leave your breath fresh. Just read the labels to make sure that they are age-appropriate for your family!

No Sugar Tonight

We know it’s hard to be a good boy or girl when you are out on a boat, sitting by the pool, or travelling. A cold soda pop or sugary ice cream treat can sound really amazing. But don’t forget this: these simple pleasures won’t be good for your smile because all that sugar will feed the bacteria that causes cavities. So, if you don’t look forward to fillings in the Fall or Winter, then try to limit the sugar, and brush any residue away!

Keep Us In The Loop

This is our favorite suggestion for you: stop by New Albany Implants!

It is always a good idea to see Dr. Ron or Dr. Brad every six months. Our New Albany dental office provides you with the sort of thorough teeth cleanings and oral exams that will be necessary to optimize your oral health.

When you are a regular visitor, we can more readily diagnose any causes for concern, and put a stop to them the easy (and less costly) way.

Beyond that, we have all the modern tools and technology that you just don’t have access to in your medicine cabinet. We can help you to stay on-track and find good solutions along the way for many issues including dental anxiety, missing teeth, bad dentures, etc.

You Make The Call!

We hope you have been inspired by today’s blog post to take better care of your teeth and gums this summer. After all, your smile is the first thing that others will notice about you.

We would love to help you get all the preventive dental care you will need. To schedule your next appointment at New Albany Implants, contact us online or call (812) 945-7645.
