Implants: The Best Replacement Teeth For You

Hello and welcome to another September edition of the New Albany Implants blog!

If you are tired of living with the awful aftermath of tooth loss as an adult, you might have already begin exploring the replacement options available to you.

The good news is that your choices are a lot better than they would have been in earlier eras of dentistry. The best thing going, in fact, is a dental implant procedure.

Many of the patients at our Southern Indiana dentist’s office are excited to hear about implants, and the fact that Dr. Ron is the leading expert in the area, but they simply aren’t quite sure what to expect.

That’s why today we’re going to explore dental implants, how they work, and how they replicate the look, feel, and function of your original teeth. Keep reading to learn more, and then be sure to get in touch with our New Albany team to schedule your consultation!

Dental Implants 101

Here’s the skinny: dental implants are made of titanium and are designed to mimic the role that a natural tooth root would play.

In truth, they look like a small screw. The center of them is actually threaded. This is what allows us to attach a wide array of caps, abutments, and oral appliances.

We use titanium because it bonds so well to bone in a process called osseointegration. Amazingly, titanium is one of the only metals in the world that has this distinct capacity.

The depth of the bond formed between a dental implant and your jawbone is sometimes stronger than the bond between your bone and natural teeth. So, you won’t have to worry about any slipping or sliding.

The best part is that, if maintained properly, a dental implant will remain in place indefinitely.

What Is The Placement Process Like?

Basically implants are screwed into your jaw, where they are allowed to heal and bond to the bone over the course of several months.

In the past implants used to be left to heal with a simple abutment cap in place, but that’s not the case anymore. Modern dental implants, whether a single tooth, partial bridge, or full mouth solution, can all be restored with a temporary crown or bridge on the same visit they’re placed. That means, you will never have to leave our office with a less than complete smile.

Once the sufficient healing has happened you’ll have your permanent crown or bridge attached to your implant and you’ll be ready to rock and roll!

Do Implants Really Act Like Teeth?

Yes!

These are the best replacement option available to folks with missing teeth.

Dental implants are comfortable, easy to wear, and fully functional because they distribute biting force just like natural teeth.

When restored with one of our lifelike crowns or bridges you’ll be more than ready to enjoy the foods that make you happy and keep you healthy. Plus, you will get your appearance back to a normal state. So, you will definitely have a lot to smile about when we are through with you.

Can I Start Today?

Absolutely!

We really do hope that you have been inspired by the possibilities outlined in today’s post. Scheduling your consultation with Dr. Ron is the next step towards getting the smile you want.
