How to Beat Your Fear of the Drill

The blinding overhead light, row of dental tools, and the drilling sound are factors that may cause dental anxiety. Some people fear dental check-ups because of their experiences or the stories they’ve heard. Today, we use practices that help reduce the anxiety of our fearful patients. Advanced sedation dentistry is one of these practices. People with high level of anxiety may undergo sedation through different methods. Here are some of them:

IV Sedation

IV sedation is the most common way to sedate patients. As it requires an anesthesiologist and proper facilities, we perform this procedure in our well-equipped dental office. You won’t realize the dental treatment is proceeding and often wake up with little or no memory of what has happened. This may even leave you in a state of extreme relaxation. Sedation may not let you sleep, but it may make you feel drowsy. There are rare cases, though, where a treatment may require deep sedative state.

Inhalation Sedation

Laughing gas, also called happy gas, is the most used inhalation sedation method. We perform this procedure by connecting a tube through your nose. By breathing through your nose, you’ll become calm from the nitrous oxide. You might even get the giggles after inhaling it.

Don’t let fear stop you from getting the treatment you need. Call us today for more information on sleep dentistry solutions.
