Dental Implants Are The Denture Solution You Didn’t Know You Needed (blog)

March 26, 2018

Dentures can work wonders when it comes to restoring the look and function of your teeth after tooth loss. That being said, dentures tend to cause a lot of frustration for patients. They are constantly left dealing with adhesives to try to hold their dentures in place.

Fortunately, there’s a solution that can secure your dentures to ensure they don’t move around in your mouth during everyday activities: dental implants.

At New Albany Implants, Dr. Ron Receveur has created the All-In-One-Place™ treatment plan to give you a brand new smile, complete with dental implants, all at the same office. At his New Albany, IN dentist office, Dr. Receveur has an in-house lab, updated surgical suite, and onsite 3D CAT scan which allows him to provide you with multiple services all at one, convenient location.

Here’s what we want you to know about dental implants and how they can improve your experience with dentures.

How Dental Implants Transform Your Dentures

Using dental implants to help improve your overall experience with dentures is a great option for patients with healthy enough gum and bone to support the implants. The implants are placed into the jaw where they fuse with the bone, ensuring they’re as stable and reliable as your natural tooth roots.

With special attachments, the dentures can attach to the implants to resolve any issues you may have been having with movement or instability. Dental implants can be used for dentures on both the upper and lower jaws.

Just as you do for dentures without dental implant support, you should remove your dentures daily to clean the denture as well as your gums. You shouldn’t sleep with your dentures so be sure to follow standard care to ensure your dentures last as long as possible. We can go over care instructions when you see us for a consultation.

Permanent Teeth

Dentures that are connected to dental implants via ball attachments or a bar attachment function like a new set of permanent teeth, for all practical purposes. Normally, dentures sit directly on the gum instead of being attached to implants.

Dentures that are supported by implants won’t move around when you eat, talk, or otherwise move your tongue and mouth. Additionally, implant-supported dentures for your upper jaw typically cover less of your palate. With traditional dentures, most of your palate is covered by the denture because of the need for suction to hold it in place. Without the need for suction, implant-supported dentures cover only your gums, which can mean a lot less discomfort for you.

There’s No Reason To Fear This Life-Changing Process!

At New Albany Implants, we offer IV sedation for patients who truly want an entirely pain-free experience. We understand the anxiety that can come with visiting the dentist for a procedure.  We want you to feel as comfortable as possible.

At our New Albany, IN office we offer IV sedation that will completely relieve any fears or anxiety you may have. Lighter sedation options like nitrous oxide don’t guarantee total comfort, which is why we prefer to use a combination of light sedation and IV sedation to ensure you’re as comfortable as possible.

We will start your IV sedation before we begin your procedure, to keep you comfortable throughout the process. We will place your implants and you’ll wake up without having felt, heard, smelled, or tasted a thing. Your total comfort is our goal, all while we take care of your dental implant procedure as efficiently as possible.

You can rest assured you’re in good hands with Dr. Ron Receveur and the rest of our professional staff here at New Albany Implants.

Are You Ready For Stable, Secure Dentures?

We are always welcoming new patients at New Albany Implants. We are confident we can help you find relief from the frustrating instability of slipping and sliding dentures.

To find out if you’re a good candidate for dental implants, call our New Albany, IN office at 888-469-3982 or contact us online. We look forward to hearing from you.

My old body has enough titanium to build an F-35. Having may joint replacements requires special dental car. Are you prepared for a 77 year old guy who has had a little too much fun when I was young and and have titanium in my knees back and neck. I also have an aortic stint that has titanium mesh. I think I am missing 9 teeth some of which has had a root canal, crown then extraction.
